Algebraically closed

Given an algebraic structure X, such as group, vector space, ring etc, a subset A of X is algebraically closed if algebraic operations on the elements of A won't result in elements outside of A.

Then A is also a group, vector space, etc.

Compare to topologically closed subsets.
