Convex combination

From Mathematics Is A Science

Convex combination is a kind of linear combination the coefficients of which are all non-negative and add up to 1.

For example, any point $u$ in a 3-simplex is represented as a convex combination of its vertices $A, B, C, D$: $$u = sA + tB + pC + qD,$$ $$s + t + p + q = 1.$$
