Pixcavator has been extensively used for counting features in images. This is not surprising. After all, counting is what topology does on the most basic level and topology is what lies at the center of Pixcavator's algorithm. Of course, one wants to count only objects with desirable geometric characteristics. So, you have to do measuring in addition to counting, see Measuring objects.
A few examples of image analysis with Pixcavator:
- Cell counting
- Counting sealed brood in bee frames
- Cellular structures
- Crystallites
- Testing vaccine spray/aerosol droplets
- Counting fixed and live red blood cells
- Counting and measuring lots
- Corneas of rats
- Evaluation of quality of seeds
- Nanotechnology
- Corneal endothelial cells of the human eye
- Measuring micromechanical parameters of fiberglass
- Counting cones in a mouse's retina
- Counting chocolates in a box
- Counting stained DNA
- Bubble sheets
